Hon. Nathaniel Nganga, CECM for Lands, Urban Development, Housing & Roads, today chaired a crucial consultative meeting bringing together the three municipalities—Machakos, Mavoko, and Tala-Kangundo—alongside their respective Municipal Managers in preparation for the Second Annual Performance Assessment under the Kenya Urban Support Programme (KUSP II).
The meeting provided a platform for a comprehensive review of each municipality’s level of preparedness, with a strong focus on strengthening coordination and ensuring full compliance with all required performance indicators ahead of the upcoming assessment.
Discussions emphasized the need for improved institutional coordination, timely reporting, and alignment of priorities to guarantee that municipalities meet the programme’s set targets. Directors and technical officers from relevant departments also presented progress updates and outlined key strategic actions required to enhance performance and service delivery.
The engagement reaffirmed the County Government’s commitment to strengthening urban governance systems, improving efficiency in service delivery, and ensuring that all municipalities are well-positioned to achieve optimal performance under KUSP II, ultimately benefiting residents through better-planned and well-managed urban centres.
