Machakos Strengthens Health Partnerships Through AHC and AMREF Engagement

Under the leadership of H.E. Governor Wavinya Ndeti, EGH, the Department of Health, through the Chief Officer for Public Health, Mr. Simon Mwako, hosted a delegation from Africa Health Collaborative (AHC) Secretariat and AMREF Africa to deliberate on ongoing collaboration with the Machakos County Government under the HEMP, HENT, and HECO programmes.

The delegation visited Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) Machakos to assess the rollout of short courses delivered through the Jibu digital learning platform. During the engagement, they interacted with trainers to evaluate course uptake, gather feedback, and assess the overall impact of the programme on learners and healthcare delivery.

The team also toured Chanda Community Unit, where they met with Community Health Promoters and witnessed firsthand the implementation of community health entrepreneurship initiatives. The visit highlighted the positive impact of grassroots health interventions in strengthening primary healthcare services and improving health outcomes at the household level.

The engagement reaffirmed Governor Wavinya Ndeti’s commitment to building strong strategic partnerships, enhancing the capacity of healthcare workers, and advancing quality, accessible, and people-centred health services across Machakos County.
