The County Government of Machakos, through the Department of Education, Youth, ECDE, Vocational Skills and Training, continues to reinforce its commitment to quality early childhood development by ensuring daycare centres across the county operate efficiently and respond effectively to community needs.
The Chief Officer for ECDE, Ms. Bernice Kioko, alongside partners from the University of Nairobi Women Economic Empowerment Hub and Jitegemee, convened a progressive consultative meeting aimed at streamlining daycare centre operations. The discussions focused on policy alignment, structured budgeting frameworks, and practical strategies to guarantee the long-term sustainability of the centres.
Daycare facilities remain a critical pillar of H.E. Governor Wavinya Ndeti’s socio-economic transformation agenda, “Chakula Mezani, Pesa Mfukoni,” as they enable parents and guardians—especially working mothers—to pursue economic opportunities with confidence, knowing their children are in safe and nurturing environments.
Notably, the Matuu and Machakos daycare centres are recording high enrolment numbers, underscoring the growing demand and the vital role these facilities play in supporting families while promoting holistic early childhood development across Machakos County.
