About Kangundo-tala Municipality
Administrative HQ for and Kangundo and Matungulu Sub-Counties, Area – 336 Km2, Kangundo -Tala is the administrative, institutional & commercial hub of the region with a population of 218,522 (2009 census). It spans 2 Sub Counties namely Matungulu & Kangundo and 9 wards namely
- Kangundo central,
- Kangundo north,
- Kangundo East,
- Kangundo West,
- Tala,
- Matungulu East,
- Matungulu North,
- Matungulu West and
- Kyeleni.
Duties and Responsibilities of the Manager
- Act on behalf of the Municipal Board, ensuring the execution of the decisions of the board
- Prepare and present annual estimates of revenue and expenditure for approval to the Board of the Municipality.
- Be principally responsible for building and maintaining a strong alliance and effective working relationship between the Board and the civil society, private sector and community based organizations.
- Prepare and submit to the Board an annual report on the activities and accomplishments of the departments and agencies comprising the executive branch of the municipality.
- Act as an ex-official member of all committees of the board.
- Exercise supervision over all departments and agencies of the municipality and co-ordination of its activities.
- Preparation and administration of the annual municipality budget.
- Administer municipality utilities and property.
- Encourage and support regional and intergovernmental co-operation.
- Promote co-operation among the board of the municipality, staff and citizens in developing municipality policies and building a sense of community.
- Any other duties as directed by the Board.
