Earlier today, the County Government of Machakos joined hands with 1,000 young men and women recently recruited into the Machakos Youth Empowerment Program in a tree-planting exercise at their barracks. Over 1,000 trees were planted—not only as a representation of the trainees but also as a bold step towards enhancing tree cover in the region. This initiative underscores the county’s commitment to environmental restoration and climate resilience.
We call upon all residents of Machakos to embrace tree planting and growing as a vital step towards the progressive transformation of our motherland. Every tree planted today is an investment in a greener, healthier future for generations to come.
Beyond environmental conservation, the Machakos Youth Empowerment Program is also changing lives by rehabilitating young individuals who were previously engaged in drug abuse. Through mentorship and support, these young people have now embarked on a journey of self-reliance and development. As part of the next phase of the program, they will proceed to six vocational institutions to acquire technical skills that will empower them economically and socially.
