The Machakos Youth Service (MYS) Cohort 2 youths will officially report on Monday, 19th January 2026, at the Agriculture Training College (ATC), marking another milestone in the County Government’s commitment to youth empowerment and skills development.
In a major boost to opportunities for young people across Machakos County, this year’s intake has been increased from 1,000 to 1,500 youths, significantly expanding access to vocational training and hands-on skills development under the Machakos Youth Service Programme.
The County Executive Committee Member (CECM) for Education, ECDE and Vocational Training, Dr. Consolata Mutisya, has urged all successfully selected candidates to report early for registration and the commencement of training. She cautioned youths to remain vigilant against fraudsters and misinformation, emphasizing that only candidates who were officially selected should report on the stated date and venue.
The Machakos Youth Service Programme, initiated by H.E. Governor Wavinya Ndeti, is designed to equip young people with practical, market-driven skills that promote self-reliance, employability, and economic growth. The programme offers training in a wide range of vocational courses, including Plumbing; Food and Beverage Production; Motor Vehicle Mechanics; Hairdressing and Beauty Therapy; Electrical and Electronics; Fashion and Design; Masonry; Event Management and DJ; among many others.
Through MYS, the County Government continues to invest in the potential of its youth, ensuring they are empowered with skills that translate into sustainable livelihoods and meaningful participation in the county’s socio-economic transformation.
