Machakos Trains Private Vet Professionals Ahead of Countywide FMD E-Voucher Vaccination Rollout

The County Government of Machakos, through the Department of Agriculture, Food Security, Livestock, and Co-operative Development, has convened a sensitization forum to equip Private Veterinary Para-Professionals (P-VPPs) with advanced technical knowledge in preparation for the upcoming Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD) vaccination recruitment.

The capacity-building session is part of the county’s broader strategy to strengthen livestock disease surveillance and control through the innovative FMD E-Voucher vaccination model. By enhancing the skills and readiness of P-VPPs, the County aims to ensure efficient, well-coordinated, and timely vaccination services across all Sub-Counties.

This proactive intervention is expected to significantly improve livestock health, ultimately boosting milk and meat production for households and farmers. Stronger, healthier herds will not only enhance food security but also raise incomes for livestock keepers across Machakos.

The initiative is fully aligned with H.E. Governor Wavinya Ndeti’s socio-economic transformation blueprint, “Chakula Mezani, Pesa Mfukoni,” which prioritizes agricultural growth, improved livelihoods, and expanded economic opportunities for all Machakos residents.
