Machakos Sewerage Project Set to Transform Public Health and Urban Sanitation

Sanitation and Environment Chief Officer Simeon Kitheka today joined the Cabinet Secretary for Water, Sanitation and Irrigation, Hon. Erick Muriithi, alongside Machakos Town MP Hon. Caleb Mule and MCAs Hon. Boniface Maeke and Hon. Francis Ngunga, for a high-level inspection of the ongoing Machakos Sewerage Project at Ikiwe, Makakoi in Kalama Sub-County.

The transformative infrastructure project represents a major investment in public health, environmental protection, and sustainable urban development within the county.

Once completed, the project is expected to significantly reduce waterborne diseases, protect local water sources from contamination, and provide the modern sanitation capacity needed to support the growing population and economic expansion of Kalama Sub-County and surrounding areas.

By modernizing waste management systems, the initiative is laying the foundation for a cleaner, greener, and more sustainable future while enhancing the quality of life for residents.

The project further reflects ongoing collaboration between the County and National Governments in advancing critical infrastructure that supports environmental sustainability, public health, and socio-economic growth across Machakos County.
