The County Government of Machakos, in partnership with the National Drought Management Authority (NDMA) and other stakeholders, convened a County Steering Committee (CSG) meeting to review the draft report of the rapid food and nutrition assessment conducted across the county. The committee examined the prevailing food security and nutrition situation against the backdrop of current climatic and weather patterns affecting Machakos.
The assessment serves as a vital tool for safeguarding livelihoods, strengthening community resilience, and guiding targeted interventions to support vulnerable households. It also provides critical data to inform coordinated responses aimed at improving food availability, nutrition outcomes, and long-term agricultural sustainability.
The initiative reflects the commitment of H.E. Governor Wavinya Ndeti to enhance household food security and improve the well-being of residents, in line with her transformative agenda, “Chakula Mezani, Pesa Mfukoni.”
The meeting was attended by Rita Ndunge (CECM Youth and Sports), Annastacia Munyaka (CECM Devolution), and Moses Wambua, alongside NDMA officials, directors from various county departments, and other key stakeholders committed to strengthening coordinated, evidence-based interventions that will secure the county’s food and nutrition future.
