Under the leadership of the CECM for Lands, Housing, Urban Development and Roads, Hon. Nathaniel Nganga, Machakos CBD was the focus of a successful clean-up exercise in partnership with the Machakos Institute of Technology Teachers Training College (MIT TTC). The initiative brought together county staff and students in a collective effort to promote environmental conservation, civic responsibility, and proper waste management practices.
The exercise highlighted the importance of maintaining clean, safe, and sustainable public spaces while raising awareness on responsible disposal of waste. By fostering collaboration between government institutions and educational centers, the county is building a greener, healthier, and more attractive urban environment for residents, businesses, and visitors alike.
Also in attendance were Ag. Chief Officer for Housing and Urban Development Mr. Benedict Ngumbau, MIT Principal Madam Judy Kyania, and Machakos Municipal Manager Mr. Judah Mumo, who all emphasized the need for sustained partnerships and active community participation to ensure that Machakos’ urban centres remain clean, welcoming, and conducive for growth.
This clean-up initiative forms part of Machakos County’s ongoing commitment to environmental stewardship and civic engagement under H.E. Governor Wavinya Ndeti’s vision for a healthier and more sustainable county.
