Kangundo–Tala Municipality has marked a significant milestone following the official receipt of the Second Annual Performance Assessment Report under the Kenya Urban Support Programme (KUSP II).
The report was formally received by the CECM for Lands, Housing and Urban Development, Hon. Nathaniel Nganga, from Alpex Consulting Africa Ltd, the firm contracted to conduct the assessment of municipalities under the programme.
The evaluation focused on the implementation of the Urban Development Grant (UDG), assessing key areas such as accountability, service delivery, governance structures, and urban infrastructure development. The findings highlighted notable progress by the municipality in strengthening systems that support improved service delivery and better livelihoods for residents.
The exercise underscored the municipality’s continued commitment to transparency, efficiency, and compliance with urban development standards, as required under the KUSP framework.
Also present during the session was Municipal Manager Mr. Justus Kiteng’u, alongside the technical team, who played a key role in coordinating documentation and supporting the assessment process.
The County Government of Machakos reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening urban governance and ensuring that municipalities remain well-positioned to deliver sustainable infrastructure and quality services to residents.
