The County Government of Machakos has officially launched a three-day training programme for the first cohort of lower cadre staff drawn from all departments at Mombasa Beach Hotel.
The training, facilitated by experts from the University of Nairobi and the Kenya School of Government, covered key areas including office etiquette and protocol, emotional intelligence, public speaking, administrative skills, as well as records and report writing. The programme is aimed at enhancing professionalism, efficiency, and service delivery across the county public service.
The session was attended by Chief Officer for County Administration, Decentralised Units and Public Participation, Madam Mercy Ndululu; Chief Officer for Public Service and Performance Management, Mr. Tobias Mutua; and Chief Officer for Gender and Social Welfare, Madam Bendeta Wavinya, alongside directors, sub-county administrators, members of the Governor’s Delivery Unit, and village administrators.
The initiative marks a significant milestone as the first structured training programme for lower cadre staff since the onset of devolution, reflecting the County Government’s commitment to building a skilled, professional, and citizen-centered workforce.
It further underscores the commitment of H.E. Governor Wavinya Ndeti to strengthening institutional capacity and improving public service delivery through continuous staff development and training.
