Machakos County continues to solidify its position as a rising hub of agro-industrial growth, with Athi River rapidly emerging as a strategic centre for investment and industrial expansion, further demonstrating the county’s immense economic potential.
H.E. Governor Wavinya Ndeti presided over the launch of the De Heus Kenya Outlet and Animal Feed Production Plant in Athi River. She was joined by Cabinet Secretary for Agriculture and Livestock Development Mutahi Kagwe and Principal Secretary, State Department for Livestock Development, Jonathan Mueke. The launch marks a significant milestone in strengthening the livestock value chain and advancing agribusiness development within the region.
The new investment is expected to expand employment opportunities from 85 to 250 jobs, directly improving livelihoods and creating meaningful income prospects—particularly for young people. By supplying farmers with high-quality animal feeds, boosting livestock productivity, strengthening agricultural value chains, and offering farmer training and capacity-building programs, the facility will play a transformative role in modernizing the sector.
The project reinforces Machakos County’s growing reputation as a premier investment destination. Under Governor Wavinya Ndeti’s leadership, the county continues to champion strategic partnerships that empower wananchi, enhance food security, modernize agriculture, and unlock sustainable economic growth.
