The County Government of Machakos, through the Department of Tourism and Culture in partnership with the State Department of Tourism, has successfully conducted the second phase of the Tourism Products and Experiences Mapping exercise at the Machakos International Convention Centre.
The inception meeting was led by the Deputy Director from the State Department for Tourism, Mr. Joseph Maina, together with the Chief Officer for Tourism and Culture, Mr. Stephen Mulei, and Deputy Director Tourism, Ms. Mumbua Muoki.
The initiative aims to update and strengthen the county’s database of tourism products, facilities, and experiences, contributing to the development of a comprehensive national tourism inventory that will support strategic planning and sector growth.
The session brought together key stakeholders, providing a platform to review mapping guidelines and align strategies for enhancing and expanding the tourism sector within Machakos County. Directors from the Department of Tourism and other industry stakeholders were also in attendance.
Under the leadership of H.E. Governor Wavinya Ndeti, the County Government reaffirmed its commitment to positioning tourism as a key pillar for investment, economic growth, and sustainable development, making Machakos a competitive destination for travel and business.
