Road infrastructure remains central to strengthening connectivity and improving mobility across the county, with steady progress being recorded on the Katangi–Kinyaata–Kikesa–Kithimani Road upgrade to bitumen standards.
Phase 1, covering the Katangi–Malava section, has been completed. The works included installation of road bumps, road markings, signage, kerbs, and drainage systems to enhance safety for motorists, pedestrians, and non-motorised transport users.
Despite recent rains, the contractor has returned to site and has already completed road opening and site clearance along approximately 7 kilometres, paving the way for upcoming bitumen works in the next phase of construction.
Additional sections of the road have also been improved to motorable standards as the County Government continues to expand tarmac connectivity across Yatta Sub-County, improving access, easing movement of goods and services, and boosting local economic activity.
The project underscores ongoing efforts to strengthen infrastructure development and support sustainable socio-economic growth across the region.
