Machakos Showcases Climate-Resilient Initiatives to World Bank and FLLoCA Delegation

The Department of Water hosted a high-level delegation led by Environment CS Hon. Dr. Deborah Barasa, alongside senior representatives from the World Bank and the Financing Locally-Led Climate Action Program (FLLoCA), to review Machakos County’s impactful climate-resilience achievements.

Hosted by CECMs Onesmus Kuyu (Water) and Catherine Mutanu (Finance), the delegation toured Miu to witness how strategic FLLoCA funding is empowering local farmers, strengthening value chain integration, and enhancing adaptation to a changing climate.

The visiting team praised Machakos County’s innovative, community-driven interventions, highlighting the Miu project as a benchmark for sustainable, climate-smart livelihoods and local resilience building.
