Officials from the County Government of Machakos, including representatives from the Departments of SMEs, Agriculture, the Governor’s Delivery Unit (GDU), and County Administration, held a consultative engagement with Yatta Multi-Purpose Farmers.
The forum provided a platform for dialogue, collaboration, and strategic planning aimed at enhancing capacity building, technical support, value chain development, and forward and backward linkages within the farming community.
During the meeting, the farmers highlighted the positive impact of previous government support, including a production machine for value addition that has boosted productivity, created jobs, and stimulated wealth creation. Key challenges such as high operational costs and policy constraints were also discussed, with a commitment to address them through supportive frameworks and structured interventions.
H.E. Governor Wavinya Ndeti reaffirmed her administration’s dedication to empowering farmers and agribusinesses, promoting sustainable growth, productivity, and economic empowerment under the guiding mantra, “Chakula Mezani, Pesa Mfukoni.”
