H.E. Governor Wavinya Ndeti has officially launched the Athi River Digital Hub in Mavoko Sub-County — a groundbreaking initiative that positions Machakos County as a leader in digital empowerment and youth innovation. The hub is designed to equip young people with cutting-edge digital skills, expand access to modern technology, and inspire a culture of creativity, entrepreneurship, and future-ready talent.
At the new facility, youth will benefit from fully sponsored training in high-demand fields including digital marketing, creative technology, artificial intelligence, and robotics. These opportunities, funded entirely by the Machakos County Government, aim to open doors to both local and global digital careers.
The launch of the digital hub is a testament to Governor Wavinya’s unwavering commitment to uplifting young people across Machakos County. Under her leadership, the county continues to roll out diverse youth-centered programs that create real impact on the ground. This includes the annual Governor Wavinya Cup, which engages more than 15,000 participants, and a broad range of empowerment initiatives touching over 4,500 youths.
Among these youth-focused programs:
-
1,500 are being enrolled in the Machakos Youth Empowerment Programme
-
3,000 are set to receive sponsored driving courses and digital skills training
-
Others continue to benefit from employment and capacity-building opportunities through the Ng’arisha Mtaa na Mama initiative and several other county-backed programs
The Athi River Digital Hub stands as yet another bold milestone in Machakos County’s mission to create meaningful pathways for youth employability, digital innovation, and sustainable development. By investing in technology and young talent, the county is laying a strong foundation for a more prosperous, skilled, and future-ready generation.
