Governor Wavinya Ndeti Launches Transformative Youth Empowerment Initiative

Governor Wavinya Ndeti has unveiled an ambitious youth empowerment initiative set to benefit 4,500 young people across Machakos County through skills development and practical training. The second phase of this flagship program will officially roll out next year, with the intake beginning next week.

Of the total beneficiaries, 1,500 youth will join the Machakos Youth Service, where they will receive hands-on training in key technical fields including plumbing, electrical engineering, welding, beauty therapy, and other vital vocational skills. This approach aims to equip young people with market-ready competencies that enhance their employment and entrepreneurship prospects.

An additional 3,000 youth will take part in diverse empowerment programs, ranging from digital skills training to driving courses for both motor vehicle and bodaboda riders. These programs are designed to build a skilled, responsible, and economically empowered generation.

This landmark initiative reaffirms Governor Wavinya Ndeti’s commitment to investing in young people, expanding opportunities, and fostering a more resilient and self-reliant Machakos County.
