Week 2 of the 3rd Edition of the Governor Wavinya Cup served up pure football drama across five wards โ Machakos Central, Kalama, Masii, Muvuti-Kiima Kimwe, and Kola-Muumandu โ with teams battling for glory and a ticket to the Sub-County stage.
In Masii Ward, Masii Heroes booked their place with a solid 2-0 win over Kyaitha FC, while Masii Starlets edged Vyulya Queens 3-2 in a nail-biting womenโs final. Over in Muvuti-Kiima Kimwe, Katoloni FC sealed qualification with a 2-0 victory against Katoloni Heroes, as Katoloni Starlets advanced on aggregate after a dominant run.
Machakos Central Ward didnโt disappoint, with Scottlanders FC outlasting Mta FC in a 7-6 thriller, while Jua Kali Queens powered past Machakos Queens 4-3. In Kalama, Vatican Lions roared to a 3-2 win over Mulaani FC, and Mbukoni Ladies claimed top spot after a fierce round-robin.
Closing out the weekend, Kola-Muumandu Ward witnessed Kitonyini FC edge Muumandu FC 1-0, before Malaika Starlets matched the scoreline against Mutalani to secure their slot.
