Machakos County marked a significant milestone on Friday 7th February, 2025 as 1,000 trainees successfully completed a three-week boot camp, paving the way for their enrollment in various Vocational Training Centres (VTCs).
The grand pass-out parade, presided over by Governor Wavinya Ndeti, underscored the county’s commitment to youth empowerment through career development. Speaking at the event, the Governor reaffirmed her administration’s dedication to transforming the lives of young people by equipping them with essential skills for a brighter future.
“Our goal is to uplift these young men and women, some of whom had lost hope. By providing them with practical skills, we are guiding them towards self-reliance and success in today’s dynamic world,” said Governor Ndeti.
The trainees, drawn from across Machakos County, will now proceed to five different VTCs, where they will pursue courses of their choice to enhance their skills and competencies.
County Commissioner Josephine Ouko lauded the program for instilling discipline and patriotism among the youth. She emphasized its positive impact on security, noting that many participants had overcome challenges such as substance abuse and were now on the path to meaningful engagement in development activities.
Deputy Governor Francis Mwangangi called on development partners to support the initiative, highlighting the need to expand its reach and accommodate more beneficiaries.
The Machakos Youth Empowerment Program continues to be a beacon of hope, fostering skill development and unlocking opportunities for young people across the county.
