ROLES AND FUCTIONS

The Public Finance Management (PFM) Act of 2012 assigns several key roles to the County Finance Department, including:

• Managing the county’s finances, including the County Revenue Fund and the County Emergencies Fund.
• Monitoring County Government entities to ensure compliance with the PFM Act.
• Advising the County Executive Committee, the County Assembly, and other county government entities on financial and economic matters.
• Providing regular reports on the implementation of the annual budget.
• Developing and implementing financial and economic policies for the county.
• Managing the county’s assets
• Enforcing procurement to ensure optimal use of public resources.
• Ensuring compliance with accounting standards prescribed by the Accounting Standards Board.
• Ensuring that accounting standards prescribed by the Accounting Standards Board are met.
• Providing the National Treasury with information it needs to carry out its functions.

The PFM Act aims to ensure that public resources are collected and used effectively, economically, and efficiently.
