Givernor's Office|

When I arrived at my office this morning, I found 33 of the 59 Machakos County Assembly Members in my compound led by Minority Leader Alex Kamitu and they demanded to see me regarding the BBI agenda.
The MCAs informed me that they boycotted a BBI consultative meeting convened today by Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka at Stoni Athi resort in Athi River and had instead decided to seek my advice.
They said that they were concerned by the manner in which the proponents of BBI in lower Eastern region were conducting the affairs by isolating key leaders in BBI forums.
They further informed me that they had received text messages inviting them for a BBI meeting in Athi River and they wanted to know if I was privy to details of that meeting.
The 33 MCAs believe the whole thing is politically driven with the aim of isolating some critical leaders in Ukambani region, and as a result they had resolved not to be party to it.
They consulted with me on how they will navigate the BBI process when it comes up for voting at the Assembly.
They also told me that they have no problem with BBI but they are concerned that it is now being used to play local politics, and they are wondering how the Bill will pass if meetings are being held in isolation.
They informed me that they have refused to be used to rubber stamp impunity and suppression of the will of the majority.
On my part, I have resolved that I will hold a meeting with them next week Monday with a view of resolving the crisis before the Bill comes to the floor of the House on Tuesday.
