We had a fruitful discussion with Lukenya – Joska stakeholders and Kenya Highway Authority Lower Eastern Regional Director Eng. James Kariuki who paid me a visit at my office today.
We discussed about the Lukenya – Joska road which is earmarked for tarmacking by Kenha.
Due to quarrying activities in the region, the road had deteriorated and was a health hazard due to dust.
We agreed that instead of doing the 4 kilometer stretch to bitumen standards at a cost of Sh387 million the county government can partner with Kenha to do the entire 35 kilometers.
We have also agreed on Corporate Social Responsibility(CSR) where the Lukenya- Joska Stakeholders including the Bamburi Cement,East African Portland Cement Company and others can also take care of the environment.
I reaffirm my commitment to all our stakeholders and residents that we are going to work with you and grow the economy of our county together.
