My government is keen on resolving land disputes in Machakos County as they are an impendiment to development and the realization of our ‘Chakula Mezani, Pesa Mfukoni’ desire for food security and self-reliance.
Today, I held deliberations with the Senate Committee on Trade, Industrialization and Tourism led by the Chairman Senator Seki Lenku(Kajiado) working at the invitation of Senator Agnes Kavindu (Machakos) and Drumvale Farmers Cooperative Society in Kamulu.
Among the issues on the table was Drumvale Cooperative Society which is faced with loss of their property following the actions of the liquidator.
The Senate Committee will make a full report after a visit to members of the Society.
We have also discussed Katelembu and Katheka-Kai cooperative Societies and agreed that the Societies should dissolve and title deeds given to genuine land owners.
We appreciate what the Senate is doing to resolve the issues and warn anyone coming to displace our people that there is no free land in Machakos.
We will not accept it.
