The County Government of Machakos and the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding which seeks to implement a 3 years project to build the Entrepreneurial capacity of Youth and Women in Machakos County.
The three years project whose initial funding is worth Kshs 30 Million seeks to build entrepreneurial capacity among our vulnerable youth and women across all the subcounties in Machakos.
Besides training, the project will oversee the procurement of, and training of our youth on electronic motorcycles.
The environment-friendly and noise free electronic motorcycles will mark a great milestone in my government’s efforts to adopt clean energy.
Another pillar of the project will be to train our people on commercial agricultural activities, particularity bee keeping activities. Besides the health benefits, honey production will go a long way in providing many families with a new source of income.
The last pillar of this project will focus on running youth peace camps. Peace is a key ingredient to the stability and prosperity of our beloved nation and these camps will help make our youth better members of our society.
Dr. Alfred N. Mutua, EGH
