PRESS RELEASE:
Update on Machakos County Employees
payroll cleanup
Further to the media briefing that I gave a few
days ago while commissioning the Human
Resource Audit task force; I have now received
an interim report which has brought out the
following:
1. While our payroll as of September
2022 was kshs.466 million, the task force
has recommended withholding of kshs.268
million due to outstanding Issues on
individual cases. I have therefore directed
for the time being stoppage of the following
until proper verification of documentation is
complete:
a) Salary payment of kshs.154 million due
to employees mentioned in the national
public service commission report.
b) Payment of Employees using excel sheet
totaling to kshs.5.4 million.
c) Salaries for all employees on study leave
amounting to kshs.11.5 million.
d) Payment of special duty and extraneous
allowances for all employees amounting to
kshs.97 million.
2. I have directed the County Secretary to
process salaries for October and November
2022 respectively for employees who are
not affected by the aforementioned issues
by the end of this month.
3. I have further directed that, the Human
Resource taskforce completes the
documents verification process including
Biometric data collection for all employees
within the shortest time possible.
4. I want to assure all County employees
that, upto and until all documents of the
affected officers are verified and
authenticated, only then will the legitimate
benefits be reinstated.
