I have today toured the two oxygen manufacturing plants at Machakos Level 5 hospital. The two plants have been set up during my tenure and have been providing oxygen for all Machakos hospitals.
The Covid-19 pandemic has increased the demand for oxygen and currently all the 460 cubic meters of oxygen produced at Machakos Level 5 hospital’s oxygen plants is under use with little left for filling oxygen tanks.
We have been receiving oxygen cylinders from BOC KENYA, a Private company, but we foresee challenges very soon due to the national demand. It is vital that we increase the capacity of our production so as to save lives.
I have therefore, directed the department of health to immediately procure additional parts that will increase the production capacity of the plants.
I have also toured the Covid-19 vaccination zone, where I have witnessed huge numbers of Wananchi coming for vaccination. I am encouraged by the large numbers that started on Thursday last week.
Currently, vaccinations are going on in designated health facilities in the county. I urge eligible Wananchi to avail themselves for the vaccination.
