I was privileged to host His Excellency President William Samoei Ruto in Athiriver, Machakos County where he commissioned the 2.7 billion Mavoko Water and Sewerage Company (MAVWASCO) infrastructure upgrading program.
On behalf of my government and Machakos county residents, I sincerely thank the head of State for setting aside resources to improve the state of our water and sewerage infrastructure considering the increasing demand for services that come with urban development.
I’m happy that H.E Dr. William Ruto pledged sh. 250 million for the establishment of Machakos Industrial Park and another sh. 100 million for the construction of Mavoko sports stadium.
I seized the opportunity to request the President to intervene in midwifing a concesus in the longstanding dispute over the East African Portland Cement (EAPC) land, which we believe belongs to Machakos County residents.
I am happy that the President has promised to deal with the issue through initiating a discussion between my government and the Ministry of Lands to sort out the problem once and for all.
I also reminded the President on the need to fast-track all the stalled projects being undertaken by the various government agencies within Machakos County.
