Agriculture, Machakos Coffee Revitalization-MCRP|

It’s good news for coffee farmers across the county as we have inched a step closer to securing the best ever prices for the black gold.
The County CEC in charge of Agriculture, Hon Bishop Joel Nzomo hosted a team of coffee buyers from the United States at Kaliluni and Mukuyuni Farmers’ Cooperative Societies in Kathiani Sub County where they struck a deal on a lucrative coffee market.
Our farmers will now be able to pocket up to sh 150 per kilogram of cherry, up from the current sh 40 to 60 being paid by other brokers.
We anticipate that our coffee production will double this year following our initiatives of providing subsidized farm inputs.
My Government has also embarked on reviving coffee factories and streamlining the operations in cooperative societies in order to foster better management and eliminate incidences of farmer exploitation by rogue officials.
