The meeting discussed the effects of COVID-19 on our community and measures that we’ve put in place to mitigate the pandemic, including free vaccinations to our our people. The Cabinet resolved to continue sensitization and rally our people to be vaccinated in medical facilities within Machakos County.
The Cabinet also discussed the Annual Development Plan for the Financial Year 2022-2023, that spells out our goal towards achieving development targets for Machakos County in the specified period.
Further, the meeting received and discussed the Machakos Information and Communications Technology (ICT) policy. The policy is to assist the county government in ensuring that we have access to best practices for the identification, protection and management of ICT and therefore maximizing the benefits and returns from public investment in ICT.
The Cabinet also considered working with national government to end traffic gridlock along Mombasa road where recently we have witnessed continuous queues of vehicles blocking entire network of intersecting roads, bringing traffic in all directions to a complete standstill.
Lastly, I have appointed a Cabinet sub-commitee to review a report on classification of urban areas and advise the Cabinet within the next seven days.
