My commitment to build infrastructure and social amenities for our people is yielding tangible results that are visible in our homes and town centres.
Take for instance, the construction of the road from Kathemboni leading to Grogon that I have launched today, in addition to similar initiatives which my government has undertaken in the past, will go a long way in improving the quality of life for Machakos people.
In 2015, I embarked on a holistic plan to modernise all town centres in Machakos by putting in place facilities that are key in enabling those towns attain urban status; such as streetlights, market shades, boda boda sheds, clean drinking water, drainage systems, litter disposal bins, and ultra modern sanitation facilities- like toilets and bathrooms for public utility, absolutely free of charge.
New visitors to Machakos county will easily notice the terrific carbro and pavement works that we have undertaken in major towns of Tala, Kangundo, Machakos and Athiriver/Mavoko, Mlolongo and Syokimau; with locally produced carbro blocks manufactured at our county plant – Machakos Carbro Making Plant.
My goal is to transform our urban centres to such a level that they will rank as Kenya’s foremost smart centres, considering that already all our towns are connected with 24hrs CCTV surveillance stations.
Ours is a faster voyage to attain smart cities status, which we are realising by the construction of the iconic Machakos New City using the Maendeleo Chap Chap model.
