Governor's Office|

I was delighted to host professional and women entrepreneurs from across the county at my Machakos office this morning.

We held a candid discussion on the need to provide platforms for women empowerment and for them to share their skills and ideas with the communities. They also shared pertinent issues for action by my government.
Educating and empowering a woman positively impacts the community, from the family setting, the community around and the country as a whole. Prioritizing on programs that empower the woman remains a direct ticket to an empowered community.

Since 2013, my government has made great strides in Machakos. Our people can access healthcare closer to their homes, access to water is not as dire as it was before devolution and we have opened up Machakos for business for external investors and our people.

All these programs have had a great impact on women and we continue to do more.
Working together with stakeholders has ensured we bring tailor-made solutions to our people and the result is a general improved quality of life for our people.
It is very important that leaders work together for the benefit of the community. Blocking opportunities sought by one leader for fear of losing popularity is a misplaced notion because the ultimate goal for all leaders must remain the welfare of the people they represent.

I thank the women for their visit and for sharing their invaluable insights with me on the various issues we discussed.
God bless Machakos County.

Dr. Alfred N. MUTUA, EGH
